What are dental sealants and should my child get them?

Dental sealants are a protective coating that is applied to the biting surfaces of the back teeth. The sealant protects the tooth from getting a cavity by preventing bacteria and plaque from attacking the pits and fissures of the teeth. Dental sealants are a great way to protect young children’s permanent teeth from cavities while they are still learning to properly brush and floss. Most insurance companies will pay for sealants on your child teeth, so ask the dentist about sealants at your child’s next appointment.

We care about our patients and consider you part of our Bogey Hills Dental family. We promise to treat you with the integrity and care that we would provide to our own family.
